"To Dwell On What Is - Obscures What Could Be" ...Bob Hanshaw 1988

More Coming Soon...

To my wife and friends, I'm simply known as Bob Hanshaw, but formally, it's Robert Hanshaw. I used to be called "RB," or "Arbee" during my grade school days at Cottage Elementary School in Sacramento, California, as well as when I attended Jonas Salk Middle School, or as we referred to it in those days, "Junior High." The handle continued with me through high school and even college. I attended Encina High, and then American River College, also in Sacramento, before heading off to join the Navy.

There were just too many Bobs in my elementary school classes, so the nickname(s) became the standard for many years. Much to my surprise, there are now numerous listings for Bob Hanshaw(s) in many city phone directories, and even more so these days on the Internet. It used to be a safe bet that I'd be the only Hanshaw in the phone book when we'd move to a new town, which was quite often. During my twenty-four career with the US Navy, I moved thirty times, and can only remember a very few instances when there was competition for the name Hanshaw.

After marrying and having two sons, I once again regained the title as Bob. My oldest son, Robert B. Hanshaw, Jr., graduated from being called 'Bobby' and formally, and rather forcefully, requested to be henceforth known and addressed as 'Robert.' What's a guy to do? Naturally, I could understand how the name Bobby could begin to wear thin on an aging teenager, so I granted his request, and I've been known ever since as Bob. Richard B. Hanshaw, on the other hand, had a much easier time of transitioning to 'Rick.' Interestingly enough, both of the boys, as well as I, have the initials RBH., and therefore each, or all can be called 'RB' or 'Arbee.'

My wife, Jan (Jan Elaine Hanshaw, formerly Wilson, of Crown King Press fame) and I are looking forward to a variety of activities in the coming years. In addition to our planned web activities described below, we're both somewhat musically inclined and enjoy country music as a common thread in our relationship. Although not professionally inclined, I've been playing the pedal steel guitar and singing for a number of years, while Jan, on the other hand, plays keyboard, guitar, and enjoyed a brief carreer as a professional singer and entertainer on the Tucson night club circuit during the '80's. Both Jan and I met on PerfectMatch.com, and it's been just that... a Perfect Match. Jan is currently the Financial Manager and Staff Technology Guru at Desert Song Yoga Studio (www.desertsongyoga.com), in Phoenix, Arizona.

Currently, I'm working fulltime as an Academic Counselor, for the University of Phoenix Online, and would like to complete my graduate studies - eventually teaching curriculum design and instruction. I would also like to develop a web based, small business training and discussion forum, along with a training resource outlet. Many smaller companies simply have neither the resources, nor the 'know how' to effectively plan for employee turnover. Ever since my exposure to training, both in the Navy, and as a teacher in the Public School system, I've remain very interested and involved.

Our planned future web activities include a website for Crown King Press, and possibly an online outlet for custom greeting cards, Krummy Kards, "When you don't care what you send," as an outlet for Jan's artistic creativity. Jan's late husband, Bruce, authored and published several very interesting books centered around Arizona's colorful past, focusing on the history of the mining industry in and around Crown King, Arizona. The books are still in print, and in demand, so the publishing, printing, and marketing aspect of the business still needs attention. Jan's also working on a DVD compilation of slides and historical photos, bringing some of Bruce's works into the present.

Progress on this site will admittedly - be slow, but I want to personally thank you for dropping by and spending a little time. We both hope to be much more interactive in the coming months and years, so do stop by from time to time. Check our "Contact Information" page and drop us a line.

Cheers - Bob & Jan Hanshaw
